Preparing for Your Wedding Hair and Makeup Trial

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Preparing for your special day involves many essential elements, including hair and makeup. A wedding hair and makeup trial is crucial to ensure you look and feel your best on the big day. This article will walk you through the necessary steps to prepare for your trial, making the process enjoyable and stress-free.

research and gather inspiration

Research different wedding hairstyles and makeup looks that resonate with your style and wedding theme. Create a vision board or Pinterest collection of your favorite looks to share with your hairstylist and makeup artist during the trial. Having a clear idea of what you want will help them better understand your preferences and expectations. We also ask that you complete our Pre-Trial Questionnaire to prepare us for your trial.

schedule your trial wisely

Set your hair and makeup trial date at least 6-8 weeks before your wedding day. This allows ample time to make adjustments or try alternative styles if needed. Also, plan your trial for a day when you can dedicate time to the process without feeling rushed. Trials typically take about 2 hours.

*Please email us to schedule your trial, do not book through our website. Our artists have various availabilities and trials must be facilitated accordingly.
**The trial included in your package includes one full makeup application + one complete hairstyle. Due to timing and other limitations, we cannot guarantee that you would be able to test multiple makeup looks and/or hairstyles. It is recommended that you choose the makeup/hairstyle you are most interested in trialing. Should you wish to modify your final event day look, you may communicate those adjustments with our team and opt to book an additional trial if needed (extra fees apply).

wash & dry your hair

On the day of your trial, ensure that your hair is clean and dry. Avoid using heavy styling products or applying too much heat to your hair to keep it in its natural state (a smooth blow-dry is encouraged if you have excess frizz or texture). If you plan to wear any hair accessories or a veil, bring them to the trial so your hairstylist can incorporate them into the look.

*Styling with hair extensions is available upon request. Clients are responsible for providing their own extensions at the trial and on the day of the event. The stylist can provide guidance on where and which color to purchase if needed.

come with a makeup-free face

Before your makeup artist begins, ensure your face is clean and makeup-free. This will give them a blank canvas and allow the makeup to last longer throughout the trial. If you have any specific skincare routine, share it with your artist to ensure they accommodate your skin’s needs.

wear a white or light-colored top

Wearing a white or light-colored top during the trial will give you a better idea of how your hair and makeup complement your wedding dress. The right colors can significantly affect your appearance, so this step is essential.

communicate + provide feedback

Don’t hesitate to communicate openly with your hairstylist and makeup artist during the trial. Give honest feedback and let them know if there are any elements you’d like to adjust. This collaboration will help them create the perfect look that aligns with your vision.

capture the look

Take photos from different angles after the trial. This will help you see how the hair and makeup translate in pictures and assist you in making any final decisions. Share these photos with trusted friends or family members to gather their opinions if needed.

Preparing for your wedding hair and makeup trial is an exciting and essential step in the wedding planning process. By researching, scheduling wisely, coming prepared, and providing honest feedback, you will ensure a successful trial that will leave you feeling confident and beautiful on your special day. Effective communication with your hairstylist and makeup artist is the key to achieving the wedding look of your dreams. Relax, enjoy the process, and let your beauty shine on your wedding day!
